Classroom Information
Saint Ann School consists of a dedicated teaching faculty. We have two homerooms for each grade level, kindergarten through grade 8. We also have specialists who teach Art, Music, and Physical Education. All members of our faculty hold degrees in their respective content areas, and are certified or licensed by the State of Ohio. Several faculty members hold advanced (Master’s) degrees in various subjects. In addition, each teacher who teaches Religion is certified by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland in religious instruction. Additional teaching assistance is provided by a teacher aide for the kindergarten classes. Our student/teacher ratio is 16:1. Each teacher strives to teach and act consistently with the philosophy, goals, and policies of the Diocese of Cleveland and Saint Ann School.

Ms. Meg Cosgriff | Principal
The principal of Saint Ann School is Ms. Meg Cosgriff. Ms. Cosgriff earned diplomas from Saint William School in Euclid and Regina High School in South Euclid, as well as both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike. She holds an eight-year teaching certificate for grades 1-8 and a five-year elementary principal license. She brings with her to Saint Ann School ten years of teaching experience, six years experience as an administrator, and two and a half years experience as an educational consultant. She has taught at both the primary and junior high levels, working in both urban and suburban, high poverty and middle-class, homogeneous and diverse schools.
Ms. Cosgriff’s professional highlights include: serving as a chairperson for the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association; serving as a mentor principal through the Ohio Department of Education; serving as a Virtus facilitator in the Diocese of Cleveland; serving on the alumni board of Regina High School; serving on the board of trustees of Mary Mavec Opportunity School; and participating in the Ohio Principals’ Leadership Academy, the Ohio Department of Education’s pilot program setting the foundation for the entry-year principal program.
Ms. Cosgriff’s love of children, deep faith, and desire to serve are her guiding forces.
Mrs. René Melendez | Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Melendez has been with Saint Ann School for two years. She brings with her five years of administrative experience in the medical profession. Mrs. Melendez is the mother of four children, all who attend Cleveland-area Catholic schools.
Mrs. Carole Newrones | Secretary
Mrs. Newrones has been working in Catholic education for over fifteen years. Before coming to Saint Ann School, she was the school secretary at Christ the King, Saint Margaret Mary, and Saint Jerome schools. Mrs. Newrones and her husband, Ray, are the parents of three adult children and two grand-dogs. They have been members of Saint Clare Parish for over 30 years.
Ms. Barbara Nicoletti | Kindergarten
Ms. “Nic” grew up in Cleveland Heights and is a life long member of Saint Ann Parish. She is a graduate of Saint Ann School, Beaumont School, and John Carroll University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s degree in Classroom Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. She has taught Kindergarten for 21 years and loves it!
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, especially her three nephews and niece. She also likes to bake, shop, and read magazines. In the summer she can be found walking her dog Moxie, hanging out at Cumberland Pool, and enjoying various summer festivals in the Cleveland area.
Ms. Laurie Creamer | Kindergarten
Ms. Creamer graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a specialization in Elementary Mathematics. She also received a Master’s Degree in Reading from Bowling Green. She has taught at Saint Ann School for 14 years, two years teaching third grade and eleven years teaching Kindergarten. Previously, Ms. Creamer taught third grade for eight years at Saint Matthew School in Akron and one year as an instructor for Sea World of Ohio.
Ms. Creamer currently lives in South Euclid with her dog, Molly. She enjoys reading, photography, walking her dog, and Celtic dancing. During the summer, you can usually find Ms. Creamer at the zoo or an area festival with her niece and nephews.
Mrs. Joanie Havach | Kindergarten Aide
Mrs. Pam Mullally | 1st Grade
Mrs. Mullally moved to Cleveland Heights when she was five years old and her father joined the police department. She belonged to Gesu Parish and went to Canterbury Elementary and then Roxboro Junior High School. She went to Beaumont for high school and then to Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Her first teaching position was a first grade class at Saint Catherine School in Cleveland. After she married and had three children, she ran a home day care business. When her youngest was in first grade she began teaching Kindergarten at Saint Margaret Mary School where her children were enrolled. It was a great experience for her whole family. When Saint Margaret Mary School closed, she came to Saint Ann School to enroll her children and was lucky enough to also get a job. She is in her ninth year teaching first grade at Saint Ann School and truly enjoys the people she works with, the parents, and especially the students. She has been taking graduate classes at Lake Erie College in language arts and reading and hopes to continue these classes in the future.
Miss Joanne Hannan | 1st Grade
Miss Hannan was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and has been a parishioner at Saint Ann Church all of her life. Her parents attended Saint Ann School and were married at Saint Ann Church. She attended Saint Ann School, Beaumont School, and John Carroll University. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Reading K-12. She continues to take graduate courses and workshops beyond her degree to learn everything she can to enhance the learning of her students. She has been a first grade teacher at Saint Ann School for 28 years, and has worked with students from Kindergarten to grade 12. She has been a primary coordinator, a Eucharistic minister, a tutor, and a reading and math curriculum coordinator for the primary grades. She loves to teach! When she is not teaching you will often see her with children. She also enjoys reading, movies, swimming, trips, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Kathy Ruggeri | 2nd Grade
Mrs. Ruggeri is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of Education, with her first year of teaching at Saint Rita School in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Upon moving to Euclid, Ohio, after marriage, she worked in various capacities, including first grade classroom aide, librarian, Parish School of Religion teacher and First grade teacher at Saint Paul School in Euclid. She is currently in her sixth year of teaching at Saint Ann School.
Mrs. Ruggeri has been married thirty-five years to her husband, Sal. They have three daughters--Ann, Felicia, and Rachel--ranging in age from 24 to 34.
Mrs. Kathleen Monahan | 3rd Grade
Mrs. Monahan received a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Bonaventure University in New York, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in English. She has also taken graduate level courses from both Notre Dame College and John Carroll University.
Mrs. Monahan is currently in her ninth year of teaching at Saint Ann School, with additional experience at Saint Mary School in Collinwood and the Cleveland Municipal School District. She is a dedicated elementary educator who has taught for seventeen years in grades 3 through 8. She has taught in both urban and suburban school environments. She has extensively served the needs of both cultural and socio-economically diverse populations. She has excellent rapport and has communicated effectively with students, parents, and fellow employees. She has the ability to manage classroom behavior and uses a range of teaching methods to facilitate high student achievement.
Mrs. Monahan is actively involved in breast cancer awareness programs and serves on Beaumont School’s Alumni Board. She is married and has four daughters.
Mrs. Claudia Gordon | 3rd Grade
Mrs. Gordon was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Ohio Dominican College and received a Bachelors in Elementary Education and Preschool/Kindergarten certification. Her first teaching assignment was teaching Kindergarten at the Columbus School for Girls. She then moved on to teach fourth grade at an inner-city school in Columbus. After getting married, Mrs. Gordon moved to Cleveland and taught Kindergarten at Assumption of Mary in Brookpark. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest of five children entered Kindergarten at Saint Ann School. Mrs. Gordon has taught first, second, and presently third grade at Saint Ann School, where she has been a parishioner for 21 years. She is currently working on her Master’s Degree in special education.
Mrs. Mary Sedney | 4th Grade English & Religion | 4th & 5th Grade Math
Mrs. Sedney has been teaching at Saint Ann School for nineteen years. Her history with the school, however, extends back even further. She attended Saint Ann School from first through eighth grade!
Mrs. Sedney earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Cleveland State University. She then attended John Carroll University to receive her Master’s degree in education. She has presented literature workshops at John Carroll and Kent State University.
Mrs. Sedney is married with three grown children and one grandchild. Her love of children keeps her striving for excellence in education.
Miss Beverly Belock | 5th Grade English & Religion | 4th & 5th Grade Science
Miss Belock is a product of a faith-filled, dynamic, life-long Catholic education. Raised in the southwest suburbs of Cleveland, she is a graduate of both a Catholic elementary school and high school. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Saint John College of Cleveland, and her Master of Science Degree in Education from Saint Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A life-long learner, Miss Belock has participated in numerous seminars sponsored by the Diocese of Cleveland and has earned post-graduate credits from John Carroll University, Ursuline College, and the University of Notre Dame. She is certified as a Master Catechist.
Miss Belock has been a teacher in grades 3 through 8, an assistant principal, a principal, and a director of religious education. She enjoys working with her students, and tries to ignite their God-given, unique talents. She marvels at their capabilities and relishes the “ah-ha!” moments that occur in her classroom. Beverly treasures the energy and enthusiasm of the children she teaches and is inspired to continue being creative in her teaching, incorporating new information and using technology as a tool.
In her personal life, she enjoys the company of family and friends, travel near water, reading, and music.
Mrs. Patricia Padden | 5th Grade English & Religion | 4th & 5th Grade Social Studies
Mrs. Padden has taught at Saint Ann for the last 29 years. Her focus has been in the subject matter of Social Studies.
Mrs. Padden graduated from John Carroll University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. She has a minor in Social Sciences as well as background in teaching Secondary Education. Elementary Education was her focus during her studies at Cleveland State University.
Mrs. Erin Trem | 4th Grade English & Religion | 4th & 5th Grade Reading
Mrs. Erin Trem is 4th & 5th grade Reading teacher, and this is her third year teaching fourth grade. the. Previous to that, she was the 5th grade Language Arts teacher and the 6th grade Science teacher. Mrs. Trem loves Saint Ann School and feels blessed to be surrounded by such a resourceful staff and fantastic students.
Mrs. Trem is a graduate of Ohio University’s Education College, majoring in Elementary Education. She completed her student teaching requirement at Lincoln Elementary in Lakewood. Mrs. Trem was then hired as an Intervention Small Group Instructor at that same school.
From there, she was hired as a 4th grade teacher at St. Paul Elementary in Euclid. Her stay there was cut short after only a year. Severe budget deficiencies caused the pastor to make the decision to close the school. Although this was a difficult situation to deal with, it is what ultimately brought Mrs. Trem to Saint Ann School.
Currently, Mrs. Trem is pursuing her Masters’ Degree in Education with an endorsement in Technology. Saint Ann School has always been a leader in technology and she is honored to help us continue this tradition.
Mrs. Kristine Betley | 6th Grade Homeroom | 6th Grade Religion, Reading, & Science
In her sixth year at Saint Ann School, Mrs. Betley teaches the sixth grade reading and language arts program, and she also teaches fifth grade science. Before joining the faculty of Saint Ann School, she taught at Saint Christine School in Euclid from 1991 until its closing in 2004. While employed there, she taught grades Pre-K through eight and such subjects as social studies, language arts, science, math, and technology.
Mrs. Betley graduated from Shaker Heights High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She continues to learn new ideas, concepts, and teaching methods by attending workshops and taking graduate level courses to maintain her state teaching license. Bringing new ideas into her classroom and collaborating with fellow faculty members makes teaching at Saint Ann School a pleasure.
Ms. Kathleen Kane, 6th Grade Homeroom | 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Math
Ms. Kane is in her third year of teaching. She started at Saint Ann School after she graduated from Ohio University in 2007. She holds both her Bachelor’s degree and teaching license in middle school (4-9) mathematics and social studies. Currently, she is teaching both fifth and sixth grade mathematics and sixth grade religion. Within the next two years, she will start work on her Master’s degree. She is also the advisor of the National Elementary Honors Society. She is passionate about the whole educational process.
Mrs. Carole Tooker | 7th & 8th Grade Science
Upon graduation from Nazareth College of Rochester with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Education, Mrs. Tooker worked for the Watertown City School District and a small private girls’ school. Currently, she teaches science at Saint Ann School and is the science department chairperson, a student council co-advisor, and serves on the curriculum and student activities committees. Current certifications held are: chemistry 7-12, basic catechist, and a non-tax certification. Her commitment to the students at Saint Ann School includes a professional memberships in the NSTA and participation in graduate level classes.
Mrs. Jessica Turner | 8th Grade Homeroom | 6th, 7th, 8th Grade English | 7th & 8th Grade Reading
Mrs. Turner graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Chatham College with an interdepartmental major in History and English. She spent time in the culinary field before going back to school for her Master’s degree. Mrs. Turner earned her Master’s degree in education from Ursuline College. She assists in coaching Power of the Pen teams and in her spare time enjoys reading historical fiction.
Mr. Kevin O’Toole | 8th Grade Homeroom | 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Social Studies | 7th & 8th Grade Religion
Mr. O’Toole graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in History and Pre-Architecture. Later he earned a Master’s degree in Education from John Carroll University. Mr. O’Toole has taught at Saint Ann School since 1992 in the 7th and 8th grade. He spent most of that time teaching Social Studies and some of the time teaching Computer, Science, and Religion. For the last eight years, Mr. O’Toole has served as the Technology Coordinator for the school.
Mr. O’Toole likes to spend his free time playing guitar, bowling, golfing, and traveling with his family. He also likes to dabble in the fine arts from time to time.
Ms. Nancy Lick | Art
Ms. Lick has been the art teacher at Saint Ann School since 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University and has taken post-graduate classes at Ursuline College and Miami University. In 2004 she was nominated by the school community for the Art Educator of the Year Award, sponsored by Young Audiences of Cleveland. She has taught in the Continuing Education program for the Cleveland Institute of Art, including teacher training workshops (B.A.S.I.C.) and adult painting and drawing classes. She has also taught children’s classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Summer at Laurel program, and the Cain Park School for the Arts. She is also a resident guest artist during summers at the Rhein Center for the Arts in Lakeside, Ohio.
Ms. Lick's illustrations have been published by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Harcourt Brace, International Publications, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Hospice of the Western Reserve, and American Greetings. She has won five greeting card competitions for the Cleveland Sight Center, and a "Best Design" award for a valentine card for American Greetings. She exhibits her paintings locally, including shows at the Edge Gallery, the Powerhouse Gallery, and the Chagrin Valley Arts Center. She received an Honorable Mention twice for her work in shows with the Northern Ohio Illustrators Society. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Illustrations and Writers, and the National Art Education Association. She serves as Communications Assistant for the Northern Ohio Illustrators’ Society.
Ms. Lick says that teaching is a way of sharing her passion for art. She feels fortunate to have had excellent art teachers growing up who encouraged her to develop her talent, and she hopes to pass along the same positive experience to her students.
Mrs. Terry Dindia | Physical Education
Mrs. Dindia is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education. Mrs. Dindia began her teaching career at Mayfield High School where she taught and coached for five years. While staying home with her children, she taught part-time for ten years at a gymnastics club in Mentor and also at Lakeland Community College. She has a total of twelve years’ experience at Cleveland Diocesan Schools, currently teaching Physical Education at Saint Ann School. Teaching at Saint Ann School is an enjoyable experience since the students are enthusiastic participants and enjoy the wide variety of weekly activities.
In her free time, Mrs. Dindia enjoys bike-riding, gardening, and attending OSU football games in Columbus. Her favorite sport is gymnastics.
Mr. Noel Schwenk | Music Education
Mr. Schwenk received his Master of Music degree in 1998 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His publishing highlights include contributions as a curriculum writer of the 2007 Fine Arts Music Curriculum for the Diocese of Cleveland and a 1999 article entitled “Analyzing Contemporary Music from a Performer's Perspective” for The Guitar Foundation of America. His professional honors include first place at the 1998 Guitar Olympics in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and second place at the 1995 Estock Award Competition in Edinboro, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Stephanie Applegate | Enrichment Program Coordinator
A lifelong resident of Cleveland Heights, Ms. Applegate graduated with both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in English from John Carroll University, where she also taught Freshman Composition. She then went on to acquire her teaching certification in English (7-12) from Ursuline College. After teaching English at Solon High School for three years, she took time off to raise her two boys, who now attend Saint Ann School. Upon discovering that her oldest son was gifted, she became an advocate for gifted education through her professional membership in the Ohio Association for Gifted Children (OAGC). She was hired in 2008 to develop and teach the Enrichment Program at Saint Ann School.
Ms. Applegate believes that children today are “native speakers” in technology, and to that end, her students enjoy total immersion in the higher-level thinking skills that authentic learning via Web 2.0 provides. An advocate of problem-based learning, Ms. Applegate pushes her enrichment students to challenge themselves, to think outside the box, and to embrace the ever-evolving technology that will shape and inform their academic lives. She currently serves as a member of both the Enrichment Committee and the Technology Committee at Saint Ann School. In her free time, Ms. Applegate enjoys reading, volunteering, and discovering new things at the Apple store.
Mrs. Caroline Farrar | Speech Therapist
Mrs. Norine Tuck-Ringwalt | Intervention Specialist
Mrs. Carla Martinez | Spanish
Mrs. Martinez is from Barcelona, Spain. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master's degree in Psychology. Mrs. Martinez came to the United States three years ago with her husband George and they now reside in Beachwood. She speaks Spanish, Catalan, English, and Italian. This is her first year teaching at Saint Ann School and she comes to us with experience teaching Spanish in various other Catholic schools in the area. Mrs. Martinez is passionate about teaching students a second language and enjoys seeing students progress as they learn to speak Spanish.
