Academic Success
Catholic schools are renowned for academic excellence. Students in Catholic schools consistently score in the top 1/3 on nationally standardized tests. Compared to other schools in the Diocese of Cleveland, Saint Ann School students consistently score higher on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
Social Responsibility
Saint Ann School students model their dedication to community service each and every day. Students enjoy helping others in their community and abroad. In the 2008-2009 school year, students have sold bracelets for breast cancer awareness and to raise money for the Lombardi Cancer Center of Georgetown, collected food for the Heights Emergency Food Center, sent care packages to Operation Christmas Child, and collected money for the Christ Child Society.
Recognition of Achievement
Academic honors are distributed each quarter. Students may earn First Honors, Second Honors, or Honorable Mention. In addition, Saint Ann School is home to a National Elementary Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society. Qualifying students are inducted into these organizations in March of each school year.
Extracurricular Activities: Saint Ann School students participate in a host of extra-curricular activities including CYO sports, Spanish Club, Student Council, Power of the Pen competitions, and private music lessons.
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is a critical part of Catholic schools like Saint Ann School. Our very active PTO meets monthly and conducts various fundraisers to help support specific programs for students throughout the year. Many parents assist with preparation for academic contests, volunteer in the lunch room, staff our library, and chaperone field trips.
Graduation Rate
Nationally, the percentage of Catholic school students who finish high school is 98 percent. Saint Ann School is committed to the philosophy that every student matters. Every effort is made to work with students who need remedial assistance. Academically gifted students are challenged within individualized programs that meet their level of learning.
Committed Faculty
Saint Ann School consists of a dedicated and dynamic teaching faculty. All members of the faculty hold degrees in their respective content areas, and are certified by the State of Ohio. Several faculty members hold advanced (Master’s) degrees in various subjects. In addition, each teacher is certified by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland in religious instruction. Additional teaching assistance is provided by a teacher aide for the kindergarten classes. The school also has teachers in physical education, art, and music. Each teacher strives to teach and act consistently with the philosophy, goals, and policies of the Diocese of Cleveland and Saint Ann School.
